A member recently questioned how campgrounds are zoned vs taxed so we asked our members. Here’s a summary based on the 14 responses that came in during the first two days:
- Most are zoned and taxed identically. By that I mean that if the zoning is commercial then the tax was commercial. Some were zoned as commercial, some as recreational, some as mixed use, and some were more specific: commercial / residential.
- One is zoned commercial but is taxed based on a percentage of commercial and residential.
- One is zoned recreational and is taxed commercial.
- One is zoned agricultural and is taxed as commercial.
- One is zoned Rural Area Development 2 (RAD 2) with a special use permit and is taxed as partially residential and mostly commercial.
